Each week during National Bike Month, we will offer tips for maintaining your bike.

In the words of Cycle Alaska’s Bike Guy Emeritus, Lou Edwards, “CLEAN, CLEAN, CLEAN!” Keeping your bike clean is the equivalent to “an apple a day keeps the doctor away.” A quick post-ride wash and dry using low pressure water, mild degreaser, and shop rags can go a long way to keeping your bike functioning properly. Pay extra attention to high wear areas such as chain, cassette, and braking surfaces. Don’t forget a light oil after!
